The greater part of the supplies of coal for the Cork area is received from eastern districts in Great Britain, whilst supplies for Dublin are mainly received from the western districts. The freight charges ruling from these different sources of supply account almost entirely for the difference in the increased prices of coal mentioned in the first part of the question.
