asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the volumes of the 1936 Census which have been already published, (b) the volumes that are completed but have not yet been published, and the probable date of publication, and (c) the volumes that are nearing completion, and the probable date of publication.

The following volumes of the Report on the 1936 Census of Population have been published: Volume I—Population by Areas, Volume II — Occupations, Volume III—Religions and Birthplaces, Volume V, Part I—Ages, Orphanhood and Conjugal Conditions.
The following volumes not yet published are complete in manuscript form and are in the hands of the printers: Volume IV—Housing, Volume VII—Industries, and Volume VIII— Irish Language. It is expected that these volumes will be published in the months of October, November and December, respectively, of this year. The following volumes not yet published are complete in manuscript, but have not yet been sent for printing: Volume V, Part II—Ages, and Conjugal Conditions Cross-classified by Occupations and Industries, and Volume VI—Industrial Status and Unemployment; these will be published, it is expected, in the months of March and April, 1941, respectively.
The above disposes of all the subject volumes of the report. The only other volume will be Volume IX—The General Report, consisting of a general review of the whole census with an analysis of each subject volume. It is expected that this volume should be published about September, 1941.
