Vol. 81 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Workers' Wages.

asked the Taoiseach whether he received from the Labour Party a copy of a resolution relating to the cancellation by the Minister for Local Government and Public Health of the wage increases granted during the past 12 months by local authorities to road workers in their employment; whether he was requested to discuss with a deputation representing the Labour Party the matter referred to in the resolution and, if so, whether he has agreed to receive the deputation for that purpose.

I have received a copy of a resolution passed by the Administrative Council of the Labour Party relative to certain action taken by the Minister for Local Government and Public Health in regard to the wages of road workers employed on works financed either wholly or partly out of road improvement grants, road maintenance grants or grants for the carrying out of employment schemes. I have been requested to discuss tins matter with a deputation representing the Labour Party, and when I am in a position to send a definite reply I shall do so in the usual way.
