Vol. 81 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business as on the Order Paper as follows:—No. 3: Votes 36, 41 and 65; then Nos. 4, 5 and 6. If business as ordered be completed to-day, the Dáil will adjourn until Wednesday, the 16th October, 1940.

What is the position with resard to the seven motions on the Order Paper in the names of private Deputies? When is the Government going to give time for their consideration?

Is it proposed to take to-day the Supplementary Estimates appearing under item No. 3 on the Order Paper?

The Ministers concerned would, I think, like to have two of the Supplementary Estimates taken to-day—the Supplementary Estimates for External Affairs and for the Supreme Court and the High Court of Justice. If we could get these two the Ministers concerned would be glad.

What is the attitude of the Government in regard to Private Members' time? Is it suggested that there is no business to go on with until the 16th October, notwithstanding the fact that we have seven motions on the Order Paper in the names of private Deputies?

If the Deputy is anxious about that matter, I should be glad if he would take it up with the Whip.

Is Private Members' time being taken to-night?

What does that mean?

That public business will not be interrupted at 9 o'clock.

But suppose public business is finished at 7 o'clock, will the House then take up the motions standing in the names of private Deputies?

It is not proposed to do that.

I take it that, if application is made to the Government for a day to discuss these motions, such application will be acceded to?

Certainly.
