Written Answers. - Capital for Turf Industry.
The total amount of new capital applied to the development of the turf industry by the State in the year ended 31st March, 1940, was £102,500. This figure does not include expenditure on the administration of the Turf Development Board. As the Deputy was informed in answer to a previous similar question, I am not in a position to say what amount of capital has been supplied by public companies or persons. There is no obligation on private enterprise to notify me of the amounts of capital devoted to any particular purpose.
