Vol. 82 No. 7

Written Answers. - Pensions for 3rd Brigade, 5th N. Division.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state how many men of the 3rd Brigade, 5th N. Division, have been awarded pensions, how many of those are resident in County Cavan, and if he will state their names and the amount of pension in each case; also, if he will state how many applications he has received from members of the brigade in County Cavan, and whether their claims have been determined and, if not, when they are likely to be determined.

No pensions have been awarded under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, to members of the former 3rd Brigade, 5th Northern Division. The total number of applications received is 409. It is not possible readily to segregate the applications to distinguish between applicants resident in County Cavan and those resident elsewhere. The Referee has reported to me in the cases of 283 applicants that they are not persons to whom the Act applies. Investigations will be completed as early as possible in the cases of the remaining 127 applicants.
