Vol. 82 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Woollen Blankets.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state the present ex-factory price per pound of woollen blankets; whether he has approved of this price with due regard to the price of fleece wool, and, if he has not fixed a price, whether he will now consider doing so.

I cannot see that any useful purpose would be served by stating the ex-factory price of woollen blankets as these vary in different mills and are bound up with the prices charged for other woollen products. The price of blankets at one mill has been approved of, taking into account the price of fleece wool, and the prices charged by all other woollen manufacturers for woollen products, including blankets, are at present under review in my Department. For this reason and as no complaints that could be substantiated have been received in the matter, I cannot see that any necessity has arisen for fixing a price of blankets as suggested.
