Vol. 83 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flour Fund.

asked the Minister for Supplies whether he can state what sum is now in the fund created by the millers out of the excess prices at present charged for flour in order to subsidise flour in the autumn, and what sum he expects will be available when the fund closes at the end of the present cereal year.

Excess prices are not being charged by the millers for flour. I have, in reply to a question by the Deputy on the 19th February last, explained that the fund to which he refers is being created out of the prices being charged to the millers by Grain Importers (Éire) Ltd., for imported wheat. The sum at present in the fund is approximately £100,000 and it is estimated that this figure will be increased to £120,000 at the end of the present cereal year.
