Vol. 84 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fairs in County Wexford.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether the removal of restrictions on the movement of live stock in County Wexford means that fairs can now be held throughout the county; if not, if he will say when the fairs can again be held, and if notification will be made through the medium of the county newspapers so that farmers interested may be informed on this important matter.

The order prohibiting the holding of fairs and markets in County Wexford is still in force. The position will be reviewed at the beginning of next week, and if it then appears safe to permit fairs to be held, licences will be issued to fair authorities if application is made to my Department.

Is the Minister not aware that Wexford got a clean bill of health, and that for the last five weeks for dances, football matches and greyhound coursing, people have been coming into County Wexford from affected counties? Is it not time to put a stop to that kind of "codology"?
