Vol. 84 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Observance of Tillage Order.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state if he has received representations concerning the alleged failure of a number of large land owners residing near the villages of Shinrone and Killeigh, County Offaly, to comply with the terms of the Compulsory Tillage Order; if the lands referred to have been inspected, or what action, if any, he has taken or proposes taking concerning same.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The holdings in question have been inspected and it has been ascertained that the occupiers are complying with the requirements of the current season's tillage order.

Is the Minister personally satisfied that the necessary acreage of arable land is being tilled to fulfil the requirements of the Tillage Order?

From reading the reports, I am so satisfied.
