asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state in respect of each county (a) the number of holdings taken over during the present year on account of the failure of the occupiers to make definite progress in the cultivation of the arable area as required by law; (b) the aggregate area of such holdings; (c) the aggregate area of such holdings now cultivated or in preparation for cultivation as a result of such action, and (d) the aggregate area sown to each crop.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Taking Over of Agricultural Holdings.
I am giving the Deputy all available information with regard to the first, second and third parts of the question in the form of a tabular statement which will be circulated in the Official Reports.
Sufficient information is not yet available to enable me to reply to the last part of the question.
Following is the statement:—
Definite information as to the present position has been received in only about 60 per cent. of the cases in which entry has been authorised on holdings on account of the failure of the occupiers to make reasonable progress in the cultivation of one-fourth of the arable area.
The following particulars extracted from the reports so far received give the information requested in the first, second and third parts of the question:—
