Vol. 86 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Hand-Mills in Gaeltacht.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that the shortage of flour and meal in Gaeltacht areas could be relieved by the provision of hand-mills; and, if so, whether he will arrange with the Gaeltacht Services branch of his Department to make a limited number of such mills available by means of repayable advances to suitable applicants.

The Minister for Lands is not satisfied on the information at present before him that the provision of hand-mills would provide the relief desired, and, before the question could be further considered, it would have to be submitted to the Minister for Industry and Commerce as the Minister responsible for the control of flour-milling.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary inquire from the Department of Industry and Commerce whether such mills are available in the country?

I will have inquiries made to ascertain if they can be obtained at present.
