Vol. 86 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Milk.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware of the widespread dissatisfaction and discontent that exists amongst milk producers in the dairying districts at the price of 7d. per gallon recently fixed by him for milk for the coming season; and, if in order to ensure the preservation of the dairying industry and an adequate supply of butter for the coming year he will reconsider his decision with a view to fixing a price that will leave a fair margin of remuneration for the producer.

The price fixed for butter and for milk delivered to creameries was fully discussed by me with representatives of the dairying industry on Wednesday, 6th instant. A reply will be sent to the secretary of the deputation at an early date and, in the meantime. I do not propose to make a statement on the matter.

Is the Minister going to give us any butter?

I have not got it.
