Vol. 87 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Train Services.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the last train leaving Skerries on week-days is at 8.20 p.m., and on Sundays at 6.20 p.m.; and if he will make representations to the Great Northern Railway Company to have these services adjusted for the summer months to permit a last train leaving Balbriggan at 10.30 p.m., and calling at intermediate stations.

The answer to the first part of the Deputy's question is in the affirmative. The recent curtailment in the Great Northern Railway Company's services has been occasioned by the fuel shortage and the revised time table based on the maintenance of the most essential services was duly considered and approved by my Department prior to its adoption by the company. I am not at present prepared to make representations to the company on the lines suggested by the Deputy.
