Vol. 87 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Petrol for County Dublin Farmers.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will give special consideration to applications for supplementary supplies of petrol during the months of June and July from farmers residing in districts such as Rush, Lusk, Skerries and Balbriggan, who produce large quantities of early potatoes for export, in order to allow these farmers to carry out their usual rotation of crops; and further, if the Minister is aware that the present basic allowance only enables these farmers to have their lorries on the road for about eight days of each month.

Special consideration is already being given to applications from farmers residing in Rush, Lusk, Skerries and Balbriggan for supplementary allowances of petrol for the transport of agricultural produce, including potatoes, in commercial vehicles during the current month. Any similar applications in respect of the month of July will be considered in due course, having regard to the supplies of petrol available for distribution during that month.
