Vol. 87 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Insurance on Exported Cattle.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he has further considered the disadvantages under which West of Ireland cattle-dealers are placed because they have to export their cattle via Northern Ireland ports and cannot get cover against war risks by any internal scheme of insurance; whether the Minister has examined the representations made to him by and on behalf of these traders, and whether he is yet in a position to announce any remedial measures in this connection.

A Bill is being prepared for introduction into the Oireachtas which is intended to place cattle traders who export their cattle through ports in Northern Ireland in the same position as regards insurance as traders who export directly from ports in other parts of this country.
