Vol. 87 No. 13

Written Answer. - Army Officer's Pay.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Lieutenant P. D. Daly of the 31st Battalion (3rd Field Company S. and T.) received no pay since November, 1941, with the exception of ten days' pay for each of the months January, February, March, 1942, and that no reason has been presented to him for this stoppage of pay; that when Lieutenant Daly, under Section 122 of the Defence Force Regulations, applied for an interview with his General Officer Commanding, such application was not acknowledged nor granted; and whether the Minister will inquire into the whole circumstances surrounding this stoppage of pay and give the officer an opportunity of being heard in connection with the matter.

I am having inquiry made into the circumstances connected with the stoppage of pay of Second-Lieutenant P. D. Daly, and will communicate with the Deputy when the result of the inquiry is available.
