asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state, in respect of each of the financial years 1933-34 to 1941-42, inclusive (a) the total payments into the Unemployment Assistance Fund; (b) the payments made to the fund by (1) the Exchequer, (2) the local authorities and (3) the Unemployment Insurance Fund: (c) the total payments made out of the fund.

As regards (a) of the question, there is no "Unemployment Assistance Fund"; payments of unemployment assistance are a direct charge on voted moneys. I am circulating with the Official Report a statement showing for each of the years mentioned the total payments of unemployment assistance against the Vote for that year, the receipts from local authorities and from the Unemployment Fund which were appropriated in aid of the Vote and the consequent net charge to the Central Fund.
