asked the Minister for Justice whether a decision has been reached in regard to the granting of an increase in pay to the Gárda Síochána; and, if not, whether he can state when a decision will be arrived at.
I had hoped to be in a position to make an announcement on this subject before now. The matter is, however, not one for me alone. Other branches of the State service are also concerned and will be affected by the decision taken as regards the Gárda Síochána.
All the aspects of the situation are under active consideration and I trust that I will be able to make a definite statement within the next few weeks.
