Vol. 89 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Processing of Woollen Goods.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is aware that the life of woollen goods is greatly increased by treating them by an "unshrinkable" process; and whether, having regard to the urgent need for economy of all fabrics, he will take steps to ensure that all woollen goods produced in this country will be made nonfelting by being treated by an unshrinkable process during manufacture.

I have arranged that the suggestion made by the Deputy will be examined in common with other measures which are being investigated with a view to effecting the maximum economy in the use of fabrics so as to ensure the greatest possible supply of clothing during the emergency. I will advise the Deputy in due course of the extent to which it appears to be desirable or practicable to have woollen goods treated by the process to which he refers.
