The question appears to refer to the estate of James Crean, lands of Ballinvilla Demesne, County Mayo, Record No. S.8774.
The Land Commission have not yet acquired these lands and, consequently, have not made any lettings of them. The latter part of the Deputy's question would therefore seem to be based on incorrect information.
asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that a number of tenant farmers in the locality of Boleyboy, Irishtown, County Mayo, who had small, uneconomic holdings on the Lamport estate, migrated to better holdings over 30 years ago, and that the holdings which they vacated have not yet been divided and are still in the hands of the Land Commission, and if he will state when action by the commission is likely to take place.
The question appears to refer to the Larpent estate purchased by the former Cbngested Districts Board. Five tenants on the estate were migrated by the board in the year 1915, and the division of the 51 acres thus acquired was deferred until a further area could be made available in order to provide sufficient land for a comprehensive scheme of rearrangement and enlargement of the remaining holdings. As there was no untenanted land purchased by the board on this estate, rearrangement could only be effected by migration or resumption.
Recently another tenant was migrated by the Land Commission, providing an additional 20 acres, and a holding of 14 acres was resumed and portions of it given as enlargements to three tenants on the estate.
In present circumstances it is not possible to state when the rearrangement of this estate can be undertaken, but there will be no avoidable delay.
