Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Emigration to Britain and Northern Ireland.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state the number of persons, distinguishing between men and women, who emigrated to Britain and Northern Ireland for the purpose of taking up employment in each of the months January, 1943, to September, 1943.

I am having a tabular statement of the figures circulated with the Official Report. As I pointed out in reply to a similar question before, these figures are not a guide as to the number of persons emigrating in the ordinary sense because they include permits granted for journeys involving merely temporary absences.

Following is the statement:—
