Vol. 91 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Lands.

asked the Minister Lands if he is prepared to take over and sub-divide the Carter Estate at New Barn, Kilsallaghan, County Dublin, on which little tillage has been done in recent years, so as to provide men adjacent to the estate who are in need of land on which to grow food for their families with an opportunity of turning this estate to useful food-producing purposes.

The question appears to refer to the tenanted holding of Thomas H. Carter, containing 372 acres of the townland of Newbern on the Piers estate, Record No. B.2268, vested in the Land Commission under Section 9 Land Act, 1931. It is not proposed at present to institute proceedings for the resumption of this holding.

asked the Minister for Lands whether, on the division of the Kinsella estate at Oldtown, County Dublin, he is prepared to give preference in the distribution of holdings to suitable local applicants; and whether he is aware that there is a definite demand that migrants will not be introduced in the district before tlie local needs are satisfied, in view of the need that exists amount local people for new holdings and additions to existing holdings.

Arrangements have not yet been made for the disposal of the residue of lands in the hands of the Land Commission on the Kinsella estate at Oldtown, County Dublin. A considerable portion of this estate has been already divided among local allottees.
