Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Drainage Schemes.

Mr. Byrne (for Mr. Flanagan)

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (1) the total cost of drainage schemes carried out under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1924; (2) the total amount of loans given by the Office of Public Works for those drainage schemes, and (3) what the total repayment of these loans to the Office of Public Works will amount to.

(1) The cost of all works undertaken under the Drainage Maintenance Act, 1924, was £182,757. (2) The total amount advanced to county councils and the occupiers of land towards this cost was £127,804. (3) The total amount repayable (including interest-charges) in respect of this advance will be £176,559, assuming that there will be no redemption of any of the annuities.
