Vol. 91 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Castlebar Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware of the acute congestion which has existed for a long time back on the Peyton estate, near Castlebar; if he will state the number of representations his Department has received for division of this estate; and if steps will be taken to relieve the congestion and make a final settlement without further delay.

Representations have been received by the Land Commission as to congestion on the Peyton estate, Record No. S.3288, County Mayo, but these cover various aspects of exchange and resumption of holdings and have not been segregated or tabulated. The estate has been noted by the Land Commission as requiring rearrangement. A certain amount of preliminary work in this matter has been done, but, owing to the diversion of staff to other Departments, due to the emergency, the Land Commission are not in a position to state when the actual work of rearrangement can be taken in hand.
