Vol. 91 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Blocks and Railway Signs.

asked the Minister for Defence when he intends to remove the road blocks at the entrance to towns; and also when he proposes to have the road and railway signs re-erected.

It is not intended in present circumstances to remove road blocks at the entrance to towns or reerect road signs. Subject to certain restrictions, however, the question of replacing the name boards in railway stations is being considered.

Is the Minister not aware that the present school of thought very largely is that road blocks such as we have in the country are in fact a greater hindrance to the defenders than they would be to the attackers, in the unlikely event of this country being attacked?

I am not aware of that.
