In January, 1939, in the South Mayo district, with headquarters at Castlebar, the Land Commission employed 13 inspectors, 27 gangers and paymasters, and one clerical officer. The corresponding figures at present are five inspectors, 18 gangers and paymasters, and one clerical officer. The reduction in staff is due to emergency conditions.
