Vol. 92 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Supply Board Charges.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he has received a complaint from the Tullamore Urban District Council regarding certain charges imposed by the Electricity Supply Board for works performed for the council; whether he is aware that these charges are regarded as excessive, even when all allowance is made for war-time conditions; and, if so, if he will state what action he proposes to take regarding the complaint of Tullamore Urban District Council, and further, if he will undertake to have the general matter of Electricity Supply Board costings immediately brought under review in his Department.

The answer to the first two parts of the Deputy's question is in the negative. The costs and financial affairs of the Electricity Supply Board are under continuous review by my Department.

Is the Minister aware that in 1940 the Electricity Supply Board charged 45/- for erecting a lamp in Tullamore, and that their charge for erecting a lamp in the same town now is £7? Is he prepared to investigate that?

I am not so aware, and therefore the second part does not arise.

Tullamore Council has communicated with the Department about it.

I have not received the letter.

I received a letter which stated that the council had communicated with the Department of Industry and Commerce. I think the Minister must not be in touch with the Department.
