Vol. 92 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supply of Turf in County Wexford.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he has received a communication from the Blackwater (County Wexford) Branch of the Irish Labour Party complaining of the scarcity of turf, and timber fuel, in that area; and, if so, if he proposes taking any action in the matter.

A communication from the Blackwater Branch of the Irish Labour Party was received on November 26th. Prior to that date, however, the necessary steps had been taken in the Blackwater area, in common with other areas in County Wexford, to deal with certain difficulties which had arisen in connection with the distribution of turf. It is expected that the arrangements made in the matter will provide a solution of the difficulties, in so far as turf is concerned. As the Deputy is aware, no control is exercised over timber fuel; and it is not proposed to take any special steps in regard to the provision of firewood in the BIackwater area.
