As I indicated in reply to a similar question on the 15th July, 1942 (Official Report, Vol. 88, No. 2, Cols. 629-30), the classification of taxes into direct and indirect is largely a matter of opinion. Particulars of the revenue derived from each tax in the years in question are given in the published Finance Accounts for those years.
