Vol. 92 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Houses for Farmers' Sons.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if it is his intention to introduce legislation to provide for the erection of houses for farmers' sons who desire to marry, while continuing to assist on their parents' farms.

Legislation of the nature referred to is not at present in contemplation. I should point out, however, that under the present legislation funds are provided for the making of grants to any persons erecting houses in rural areas. The number of such houses built since 1932 is 22,589. The vast majority of these houses were built by farmers.
