Vol. 92 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Potatoes.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state if there are potatoes being exported at present to England, and, if so, if he can state whether the exports pass out through Dublin or Waterford; and if he will state the export tonnage of potatoes in 1941 and 1942.

No potatoes are being exported apart from a limited quantity of seed potatoes consisting of varieties which are not in demand in this country and which are grown specially for export. Dublin is one of the ports of shipment for this seed; Waterford is not.

As regards the second part of the Deputy's question, neither monthly nor yearly figures of exports are now published.

Could the Minister say if any potatoes have been exported from Waterford at any time?

Not this year, at any rate, according to my information.
