Vol. 92 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Turbary.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will expedite payment of moneys due to Mr. Charles Ryan of Lisnagry, County Limerick, and a number of others, whose turbary was acquired under Article 38 of the Emergency Powers Orders, 1939, and if he is aware that this money is long overdue and is much needed by these people.

The question of payment in respect of turbary rights acquired on the holdings of Mr. Charles Ryan, Lisnagry, County Limerick, and other bog-owners at Garden Hill and World's End Bogs, County Limerick, and Annaholty Bog, County Tipperary, is at present under consideration. The rates demanded by the owners are regarded as excessive and this has been the cause of the delay in dealing with the claims. It is hoped, however, to effect an early settlement of them by negotiation.
