Vol. 92 No. 16

Deputy's Apology.

Before the House proceeds with Questions, I should like to make reference to the incident that occurred here yesterday, and to express my regrets to the Chair for any inconvenience I may have caused in the heat of the discussion. At the same time, I would be very glad if the Taoiseach would not make any further reference to freedom of speech——

The Deputy rose to make a gratuitous apology.

I am apologising to the Chair over yesterday's incident, but at the same time I am protesting against the manner in which I was treated by the Minister for Justice. In addition to that, I hope the Taoiseach will make no further references to freedom of speech when he is addressing the elected representatives of the people.

The Deputy should not spoil his apology in that manner.
