Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transport Facilities for Factory Workers.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that since the trams were discontinued on the Dun Laoghaire route a big number of girls employed in the factories in Blackrock have been obliged to walk home and, in view of this, if he will see what arrangements can be made to alleviate this hardship.

A four-minute service has been provided on this route and in present circumstances I see no prospect of any improvement.

Is the Minister aware that when buses arrive at the Imco factory they are full, and these girls are compelled to walk long distances to their homes? Could not arrangements be made to provide transport in such cases?

It is recognised that transport facilities are not sufficient, but there is no prospect of immediate improvement.
