asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state the number of vacancies which at present exist on the postmen, Grade B class at (a) Dublin, and (b) provincial offices.
The answer to Questions Nos. 55 and 56 (taken together) is:—
There are at present 63 vacancies for established telephonists at Dublin and 68 at provincial exchanges. (These figures include 24 temporarily created posts at Dublin and 22 at provincial exchanges).
Twenty-three vacancies exist for postmen Grade B at Dublin and 189 in the provinces. (The Dublin figures include two posts created as a result of upgrading part-time duties; and the provincial figures include three temporary posts and 40 posts created by extending part-time duties. Most of the Dublin vacancies will be filled in the near future.)
