Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cold Storage of Butter.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state with reference to butter (a) the total quantity at present in cold storage and the corresponding figure for last year; (b) the quantity put into cold store in each of the months May to October inclusive and the corresponding amounts for last year; (c) the quantity, if any, withdrawn from cold store.

The total quantity of butter in cold store on 31st October, 1944, was 232,263 cwt. The figure for the corresponding date of 1943 was 214,340 cwt.

Details of the quantities of butter put into and withdrawn from cold store each month are available only in respect of public cold stores. The following table shows the quantities in cold store, including cold stores at creameries, etc., at the end of each month from May to October in 1943 and 1944:—
