Written Answers. - Post-War Building.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state, in respect of the various special committees established to advise on post-war building problems, the description of each committee, the names and qualifications of its members and the method of their selection and appointment.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the names and qualifications of the members of the advisory council referred to in paragraph 18 of the Report on the Post-War Building Programme, and the method of their selection and appointment.

It will be convenient to answer questions Nos. 8 and 10 together.

The council and committees mentioned in paragraph 18 of the White Paper on the Post-War Building Programme are constituted as follows:—

The persons appointed to the different committees were selected by me from panels submitted by organisations of the different interests concerned.

The names of the persons appointed to the Building Research Committee are: Mr. J. Ingram, Mr. M.P. Colivet, Mr. W.H.H. Cooke, Mr. T.A. Crampton, Professor M.A. Hogan, Mr. V. Kelly, Mr. J.J. Morrissey, Mr. N. O'Dwyer, Mr. Aodhagan O'Rahilly, Mr. H. Osterberg, Mr. R.J. Payne, Professor E.T.S. Walton.

The persons invited to serve on the committee were selected by me. Their qualifications are that they possess the specialised knowledge and qualities of mind which will enable them to recommend practical solutions for the problems which are likely to come before the committee for examination.
