Vol. 96 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Extracting Bran From Farmers' Wheat.

asked the Minister for Supplies if, in cases where country millers have the necessary equipment, he will allow them to extract the bran from farmers' wheat when grinding it for use by the growers.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a similar question which he addressed to me on the 25th January last. I do not consider that it is practicable or desirable to adopt the Deputy's proposal.

The Minister has told me that the country millers have not got the proper equipment, but I tell him that they have got the proper equipment. Yet he will not allow them to take the bran off the meal, so we have to eat black bread, while those in the cities get white bread. I suppose anything is good enough for the country mohawks.
