Vol. 97 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bureau of Information.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state if he proposes to establish at some convenient centre in Dublin a bureau of information for the assistance of soldiers and ex-members of the Forces who have difficulties on various matters arising out of their service and their transfer to civil life.

While I consider that the information conveyed to soldiers on their discharge from the Army together with the particulars contained in Regulations and in the White Paper on "Demobilisation and Resettlement of Members of the Defence Forces", should normally be sufficient to guide them in connection with any difficulties they may have on transfer to civil life, any further assistance they may require in this direction will be given to them on application in writing or by personal representations at the headquarters of my Department at Parkgate, Dublin, where an officer has been appointed to deal with any difficulties which may arise in regard to ex-members of the Forces.
