Vol. 97 No. 21

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Annuity Receipts.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that, where an application is made to the Land Commission to sub-divide a registered holding for the purpose of a sale, the consent of the Land Commission to such sub-division is dependent on the Land Commission annuity being paid up to the current gale day, so that a purchaser of either part of the subdivided holding would require evidence that this condition had been complied with; that evidence of such compliance is a receipt from the Land Commission or the receivable Order receipted; that in the event of such receipt not being available a purchaser would be entitled to refuse to complete the sale; and that at present considerable delay takes place in the Land Commission; and, if so, if he will make inquiries in order to have such applications dealt with more expeditiously in future.

There is no avoidable delay in the issue of receipts for payments made to the Land Commission in the circumstances mentioned by the Deputy, but occasionally abnormal pressure, due to gale collection, may involve some lapse of time before the receipted receivable orders can be released. Steps are under consideration with a view to expediting the acknowledgment of remittance in sub-division cases.
