Vol. 98 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export Price of Turkeys.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state (a) the price to be paid by the British Ministry for Food for turkeys exported to England during the coming season; (b) the price likely to be paid to the Irish producer; (c) if it is intended to put a tax or levy on turkeys exported, and (d) the amount that was realised from the tax or levy that was imposed last year.

It is anticipated that the prices payable during the coming season in respect of turkeys exported from this country will be the same as last year, viz.: 2/7 per lb. dead weight delivered, payable by the British importer, and 1/10 per lb. live weight payable to producers. The latter price is a net price after deduction of 3d. per lb. which it is intended to continue in circumstances similar to those which obtained last year. The amount realised from the deduction made last year was £133,921 which was fully disbursed in payment of higher prices for eggs.
