Vol. 98 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Administration in Laoighis and Offaly.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he has received a request from the secretary to the Offaly County Council to meet a deputation concerning the roads administration in Laoighis and Offaly; and if he proposes to meet the deputation at an early date, and discuss this matter with them.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. In regard to the second part of the question, the points which it was proposed that the deputation should discuss were set out in the communication received from the county council and they have been considered. It is hoped to address an early reply to the county council and the necessity for the attendance of a deputation need not arise.

Would it be possible for the Parliamentary Secretary to give special consideration in the case of the roads through Laoighis and Offaly, so that they might be put into as good a state of repair as they were in in pre-war days, and could he give a special grant to the council for that purpose?

That is a new question.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary consider that?
