Vol. 98 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone for Dublin Cattle Market.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state whether in view of the increased pressure of business and the greater delay and inconvenience caused to cattlemen in recent weeks he will now consider erecting without delay the kiosk he has already promised adjacent to the Dublin Cattle Market.

Following on representations by public bodies, it has been arranged to give priority to the construction of an additional kiosk for the cattle market. Provided no difficulties arise in regard to a site, it will be included in the engineering programme for the next financial year and it is hoped to have service available by the end of April next. The programme for the current year is full.

Does the Minister appreciate that this is the high pressure time so far as the cattle market is concerned and that there is an acute shortage of telephone facilities there? Would the Minister reconsider his decision and arrange to give the facilities immediately? This is the time they are wanted.

I will consider the matter.
