Vol. 98 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Charlestown Sub-Postmastership.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state whether the vacancy which existed in Charlestown Post Office for a postmaster has yet been filled; and if an appointment has been made, if he will say who has been appointed and what qualifications the appointee has for the position.

The vacant sub-postmastership of Charlestown has been filled by the appointment of Mr. Valentine Harrison, who was the most suitable candidate forthcoming.

My question addressed to the Minister refers to the qualifications of the appointee. Would the Minister state the qualifications, which is part of my question?

The candidate had all the qualification required to fill the job efficiently.

What were they?

I feel that the Minister has failed to answer my question and, owing to the peculiar circumstances surrounding the appointment of this candidate and the failure of the Minister to give a proper reply, I would like, with your permission, to raise this matter on the Adjournment of the House this evening.

I will consider the matter.
