asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give the reasons for the recent delay in making supplies of petrol available to tillage and dairy farmers in County Dublin; and whether, in view of the serious situation which might arise from such delays, he will take steps to ensure that for the future petrol coupons will be issued in good time.

The improvement in petrol supplies in November involved the printing, as a matter of urgency, of largely increased numbers of petrol licences which temporarily disorganised the normal printing arrangements and involved delay in completion of the printing of current petrol licences.
The circumstances were exceptional and I have no reason to anticipate that a similar position will again arise.
