Vol. 99 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford River Embankments.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether it is the intention of his Department to carry out repairs to the breaches in the embankments on the River Bride in the townlands of Ballinvella and Bridane.

The Land Commission have no responsibility for the repair or maintenance of the River Bride embankments in the townlands of Ballinvella and Bridane Lower on the estate of the Duke of Devonshire, Record No. S.4265, County Waterford. In connection with the sale proceedings of this estate under the Land Acts, 1923-1939, a trust fund was established to assist the tenant purchasers in the upkeep of certain embankments and other works in these and other townlands. The execution of repairs to the works as they become necessary is a matter for the local trustees representing the tenant purchasers, who are responsible for the administration of the fund.
