Vol. 99 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Delivery of Mails in County Kerry.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that the road service provided by Córas Iompair Éireann for the delivery of mails to Milltown, Killorglin, Glenbeigh and Cahirciveen is inadequate; that, as a result, the mails frequently arrive at the above towns several hours after the scheduled time, and the residents of Cahirciveen have not an opportunity of answering correspondence received on the same day; and if he will arrange to have a better rail or road service provided by Córas Iompair Éireann for the delivery of the mails.

I am aware that the mail service to Cahirciveen and other Valentia line offices has been unsatisfactory in recent months. I have made representations to Córas Iompair Éireann and the company, while regretting that it is not possible to provide a suitable service by rail, states that the present road service is under special review and that it is hoped to effect an improvement.
