Vol. 99 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Pension Claim.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state on what grounds the claim of ex-Private Francis Slevin (A/80371), Corinagh, Ballinamuck, County Longford, to an Army pension was rejected, as Private Slevin was passed as medically fit before joining the Defence Forces.

Francis Slevin enlisted in the forces on the 11th May, 1940, and was discharged medically unfit on the 25th April, 1945.

His claim for a disability pension under the Army Pensions Act, 1927, as amended by the Act of 1943, was referred to the Army Pensions Board, who reported that they were not satisfied on the available evidence that the applicant's disability was attributable to his service in the forces during the emergency period. In view of the board's report, no award of disability pension could be made to Mr. Slevin.
