Vol. 99 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Fisheries and Fishing Rights.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that various fisheries and fishing rights throughout the State are being purchased by non-Irish nationals, and if he will take immediate steps to ensure that the sale of such fisheries and rights to such non-Irish nationals will be prohibited and the fisheries of this country acquired for the benefit of Irish citizens.

While unaware of any specific transaction of the kind in question, it is not my intention to do anything which might interfere with the normal right of free sale in respect of such property or rights, subject to the provisions of Part V of the Fisheries Act, 1939.
